It was the legendary home of the first Tibetan king, Nyatri Tsenpo. Yumbulagang offers visitors a chance to get in touch with the origins of Tibet. The Samye Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery established in Tibet, is of immense significance to Tibetan Buddhism. Padmasambhava and King Trisong Detsen built this monastery in 8th century. It is an architectural marvel representing the three-dimensional mandala of Buddhist cosmology. Visitors can explore its sacred halls and gain insight into Tibetan Buddhist practices and rituals.
