Nepal - Tibet Tour
This Lhasa-EBC-Katmandu Overland Tour is a combined Nepal – Tibet tour. The first 3 days you will stay in Kathmandu Valley, applying for a Tibet visa and exploring major sightseeing places in Kathmandu Valley. Then you will proceed to Lhasa, Tibet.
Tibet is the highest plateau in the world with an average altitude in excess of 3500 meters. Lying to the north of the great Himalayan range which separates it from its neighbors, India, Nepal and Bhutan. Tibet is more or less an untamed land of nomads (Drokpas), monasteries, yaks, sand dunes and high altitude desert.
On this Tibet overland tour, your first night will be acclimatizing in Lhasa, as the altitude is 3660m above sea level. During the sightseeing tour, you will absorb the exoticism of Tibetan heritage and explore this history-laden city to its core. Lhasa is one of the most important cultural and religious centers for Tibetan Buddhism and has a rich history dating back over a thousand years. It houses the most iconic landmarks in Lhasa: the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple, Norbulingka, and Monasteries. Thus, you will be expertly guided around the most significant and ancient Gompas (monasteries) of Lhasa, Gyantse, and Shigatse by your Tibetan-English-speaking guide. He will guide you with his knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism and mysticism. With its spectacular mountain scenery and rich Buddhist culture, Tibet would certainly be a unique and mystical destination to visit.
After visiting major cities of Tibet, you will proceed to the Everest Base Camp from Tibet side. The altitude of Everest Base Camp (EBC) from the Tibet side is approximately 5,200 meters above sea level. This is the primary starting points for mountaineers attempting to climb Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.
