Lhasa to Kyirong

Lhasa – Kathmandu overland tour is a highly recommended Tibet tour. It connects two major cities of Tibet and Nepal.  Tibet, which boasts of spectacular mountain scenery and a rich cultural heritage, is a place worth visiting. As you drive across the Tibetan plateau, you will visit all the Tibetan monasteries, temples, monuments, and important tourist sites with an expert local Tibetan guide. In Lhasa, you can explore the Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Norbulingka, Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery, and the busy Barkhor Square.

Leaving Lhasa on a vehicle, you will pass by picturesque Tibetan settlements. We, nomadic herdsmen, can still see across the wide, arid plateau. This overland journey takes you over several high mountain passes with spectacular mountain views, including those of the majestic Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Shishapangma. Your adventure tour continues to the historic cities of Shigatse and Gyantse. As you explore the ancient monasteries, forts and citadels you get an insight into the rich Tibetan culture and history. As you leave Kyirong and cross the Friendship Bridge, you enter Nepal. Your overland tour comes to a finale.

Kyirong to Kathmandu

At the end of your Lhasa-Kathmandu tour, You will be received by a travel representative from Nepal. You have to get a Nepali visa on arrival at Nepal Immigration. After obtaining a visa, you will proceed to Kathmandu. The road from Kyirong to Kathmandu was approximately 155 kilometers but it takes around 6-7 hours. Please note that travel times can vary due to factors like weather conditions, traffic, and road conditions, especially considering the mountainous terrain of the region. On the way, you will have Lunch time. Be careful about the hot and spicy Nepali food. Before ordering your meal, don’t forget to ask “no spicy”.
